Becoming a holistic health practitioner can be an exciting adventure. You get to light the way to healing for other people. You get to be on your own holistic healing path. You get to contribute to this great Earth in a meaningful and uplifting way. You get to shine your bright light!
Here are some industry-savvy tips to help you be successful as a practitioner. Here’s to radiating healing, caring, understanding, and professionalism…
The Vision: Nurturing the Dream
Have Vision:“What is it I want to contribute to the world? And how can I make a living doing it?”
I posted this up on my fridge and focused on it daily. Having a positive, meaningful vision is the crucial fuel can propel you forward.
Take Small Steps: We freak ourselves out with huge, scary “all or nothing” steps. Little steps all add up. See if there is a way that you can make your dream happen by taking smaller steps towards it. Maybe that would look like starting a healers group or turning a space within your home into a healing room.
Do Market Research: When preparing to become a holistic health practitioner, know what is already being offered and discover how you can contribute and fit in. There is always room for one more of the best. Your passion will shine through and is priceless.
Get Accredited: Learning how to become a holistic health practitioner may mean getting your certificate or diploma. This shows that you are serious. It is also mandatory in most fields. Take steps towards your dream by finding out how to further your holistic health practitioner training, if needed.
Treat Your Work Like a Business…but when just starting out, give freely when you can. You may want to look into volunteering your healing talents at the local hospital, seniors’ center or a center for disabled people. This will help you stay current and help you to network.
Market Yourself: Professionally designed business cards are a must. Also, plan a small, targeted advertising campaign to let people know about you. Make sure to advertise in the right places, relevant to your business. Small, local health magazines may be fruitful.
A friend of mine, who is a massage therapist, gave out flyers to local doctors to let them know of her new practice. It worked beautifully to build word of mouth buzz.
The Vocation: Maintaining the Dream
Join a Professional Organization in your field. These groups keep you current and belonging to them shows that you mean business!
You may want to Diversify and offer a few key healing approaches that complement each other. In this way, your healing work may be more flexible.
Maintain Buzz: Part of becoming a holistic health practitioner means using word of mouth. Participate in community events, such as local health fairs and healing circles. Maintain a community presence.
Keep Upgrading your skills. Make professional growth a must. Become a trusted expert in your field by attending workshops and seminars. Be in the “Know.”
Network with other healers. Many healers refer other healers, so it is good to be in a network of like-minded practitioners. This is also fabulous for support and friendship.
Ongoing Success: Living the Dream
Stay Involved in your community. The basis of your ongoing success is helpfulness, experience and goodwill. Keep contributing to your community in a meaningful way.
Strive for Excellence: Do your very best to help everyone under your care. Facilitate healing on all levels. Have your clients feel so good and so cared for that they just have to tell others. Let them lead other people to you!
Becoming a holistic health practitioner takes vision. May you have the courage to embrace your dream. May you offer all of the people under your care healing, happiness and hope.
May you keep your great talents cycling through this great universe and shine where you are!
